The palais des fêtes

Commissioned in 1897 by the Strasbourg singing club and designed by architects Joseph Muller and Richard Kuder, the Sängerhaus was for many years the city’s main concert venue. Built of reinforced concrete, using the Hennebique method, the building features a blend of neo-Renaissance (scroll gables) and neo-Gothic (corner tower) elements, along with rich Jugendstil decoration. The extension built in the 1920s, the so-called Marseillaise building, houses the Strasbourg choreography centre1
